Paul Pogba Banned For Four Years From Sport Over Doping

As per reports, French football player Paul Pogba, currently playing for Juventus was banned from football for four years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The verdict stated that the player was banned due to doping. Mr Pogba had tested positive for testosterone after Juventus’s first game of the season against Udinese. After testing positive for testosterone, a hormone that enhances a person’s endurance, he was provisionally suspended in September last year in Italy’s national anti-doping (NADO Italia) tribunal.

In a second sample in October, the test was confirmed by Italy”s national anti-doping tribunal, with the anti-doping prosecutor”s office asking for the suspension of the player for four years. However, the decision to ban Pogba for four years would affect the 30-year-old player’s career as he cannot take a boot until 2027. It would also be a blow to the Juventus which re-signed a four-year deal with Pogba in 2022 after his contract at Manchester United ended.

The player today took to his Instagram informing his fans of the ban on him, noting that the verdict was “incorrect.” “I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me. When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations. As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against. As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” the payer wrote.

However, there is a police investigation in France into the allegations that the extortionists have targeted Pogba. He had in 2023 April said that an extortion plan against him made him mentally and physically down, affecting his football career.
