Islamabad United all-rounder Imad Wasim landed in a hot soup on Monday as he was caught smoking in the dressing room during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 final against Multan Sultans on Monday.
The incident took place on the 18th over when Wasim returned to the dressing room and the broadcast visuals panned toward him, catching him smoking inside the dressing room.
Similar incidents have taken place earlier when Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was seen e-vaping in a match against South Africa during the 2023 World Cup. In 2022, Afghanistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Shahzad was handed a demerit point for smoking on the field in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match.

Wasim was, incidentally, caught in the act after producing a title-winning five-wicket haul in the PSL 2024 final in Karachi. Following his brilliance with the bat, Wasim played an unbeaten knock of 19 runs to take his side to two-wicket win after Martin Guptill”s half-century in a tricky chase.
Wasim was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round exploits. The match winning performance helped Islamabad United to become the most successful team in the PSL with three titles to their name in nine editions. Meanwhile, the Multan Sultan have finished as runners-up on three consecutive seasons.
Wasim, who last represented Pakistan in April 2024, has 65 T20I and 55 ODI wickets to his name beside scoring 1472 international runs.
