Bengaluru’s boy ‘Rachin Ravindra’ continues with his love affair with the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as he scored his maiden hundred against India today. Moreover, this was the first hundred by a New Zealand batter in 12 years in the Test format.
Widely known as the ‘local boy’ brought it up in 124 balls, smashing 11 fours and two sixes. Ross Taylor was the last player from New Zealand to do so when he scored 113 off 127 balls at the same venue in 2012.

He had clenched the three-figure mark with a boundary and was basked in applause by taking out his helmet. The century was special one to him as it came in front of his family at a place where he has roots.
However, this was the first time Rachin had scored a hundred at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He had some fond memories of playing at the venue, as he scored a blazing hundred against Pakistan during the ODI World Cup 2023. Rachin had ensured to make the opportunity count once again and slammed a Test ton.
Rachin and Tim Southee had taken the game away from India after claiming three wickets. The duo had undid all the good work that India had done in the first hour of the day.
Rachin had made his Test debut in 2021 against India in Kanpur. This was his second Test hundred in 19 innings with the first one coming earlier this year against South Africa.
In today’s match, India seems to be in trouble water as New Zealand continues to thrive. India’s desperation mode to pick up wickets had heightened as New Zealand continued to surge to a 300+ lead.
