India is currently taking on Bangladesh in the final test match series at the Green Park International Stadium in Kanpur. The ongoing Test match is crucial as the win would ensure that they register a whitewash series win against the visitors.

The match will be marked as the final step for India to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship 2025. However, rain and a wet outfield have played spoilsport in the first two days of the game.

On the first day of the match, only 35 overs bowled on Day 1 as Bangladesh struggled to 107/3. The second day was washed out without a ball being bowled.

With an impressive percentage points tally of 71.67 of India after 10 matches, the team stands in a prime position to make their third consecutive final.

A 2-0 win over Bangladesh will put India in a position needing just three more wins to secure the spot in the final.

However, with the rain hindering the path forward, a draw would complicate India’s further journey ahead.

If the match concludes with a draw, India will need five wins out of the eight Test matches to get to the final while assuming that other contenders for a top-two finish do not drop points.

India will then have to defeat New Zealand 3-0 at home and secure at least two wins in the five-match Border-Gavasker series against Australia in Down Under.

The challenge for India ahead is immense. Though India has been unbeatable on home soil, the 3-0 sweep against the Kiwis is crucial to lessen the burden.

When considering India’s history in Australia, two wins would still be an impressive result.

Nevertheless, India’s immediate focus is on Bangladesh and the shadow of WTC qualification looms large adding complexities to the Indian team’s bright future.
