Rahul Dravid, the departing head coach of the Indian team has once again proven to be a gentleman by rejecting the extra Rs 2.5 crore prize money following their T20 World Cup triumph. Dravid made this call to ensure that all the members of the support staff received an equal share of the prize money.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced Rs 125 crore as the prize money for Team India members, including the players and the support staff.

The players and head coach Rahul Dravid was awarded with an amount of Rs 5 Crore, while the other members of the supporting staff, including batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip were slated to receive Rs 2.5 crore as bonus.
The prize money was granted to the team after their victory parade in Mumbai on Thursday, July 4. However, as per the source, Rahul Dravid told the board that he would not be taking the Rs 2.5 crore bonus money.
The 15 players who were part of the squad were rewarded with Rs 5 crore each while the travelling reserves were rewarded with Rs 1 crore each.
This wasn’t the first time Rahul Dravid has shown such a heartwarming gesture. In 2018, after India’s win in the U19 World Cup, BCCI announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh for Dravid, Rs 20 lakh to other remaining members of the coaching staff and players. However, Dravid requested BCCI to divide the prize money among the coaching staff and the board agreed to his request.
Dravid who has been an accomplished player unfortunately never won a World Cup, however, he has finally achieved the feat as a head coach of India’s T20 World Cup winning team.
