Rashid Khan Turns Afghanistan Team Chef In Barbados Due To Unavailability Of 'Halal Meat'

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan turned team chef in Barbados, West Indies due to the hotel’s unavailability of ‘halal meat’.

In a picture going viral on X, the premier Afghanistan all-rounder was seen dicing the meat before cooking it for the team. It should be noted that the absence of halal meat in the team hotel forced the Afghanistan players to cook for themselves. According to a team player, halal meat is not available in every venue for the T20 World Cup 2024.

“Halal meat is not available in our hotel. Sometimes we cook on our own, or sometimes we go out. In the last World Cup In India, everything was perfect. Halal beef is an issue here.

“We had it in St. Lucia but it is not there at all venues. A friend arranged it for us, and we cooked on our own,” a player told PTI.

The Super 8 schedule has been quite intense with Afghanistan facing Team India in Barbados while their next matches in the T20 World Cup 2024 against Australia and Bangladesh, slated to take place in Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent, on Saturday and Monday respectively.

Meanwhile, another Afghanistan team member conceded that the poor scheduling had impacted their preparations.

“There is uncertainty over flights and training schedules. We are often informed about it at the last minute. We understand that the organisers are doing their best considering logistical challenges, which are bigger in the Caribbean than anywhere else,” he said.

Afghanistan are currently in the third spot of the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Group 1 points table.
