Swiss legend Roger Federer had some plans around his final appearance on the tennis court. He wanted someone to document his moments and rivalry on the court at the 2022 Laver Cup, which was his swansong. So, he asked his friend Anna Wintour, chief content officer, at Code Nast for help. She suggested Federer to work with Joe Saiba, who was the architect behind the 73 Questions at Vogue, which Wintour edited for three decades.

The Swiss maestro”s final moment was documented by Saiba, including his play alongside Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Everyone behind the project saw the documentation and felt that there is something special. So, they shopped the rights for a documentary and Amazon aquired the project, the Osacr-winning Asif Kapadia to work on the movie.

“It’s a snapshot of my life over those 12 days, which is pretty hardcore and interesting,” Federer said in an interview. He provided the filmmakers access to his hotel room and his home. “I never let anyone come into my house,” he said. His wife also gave her first interview in more than a decade.

It will be the first documentary for Federer, who won 20 Grand Slams between 2003 to 2018. The people working behind the scene on the project have decided to release the movie around July during the Wimbledon, which Federer won eight times. But the exact release date is still not confirmed.
