Saurabh Netravalkar: Oracle Engineer Who Stunned Cricket World By Coding Pak Defeat In T20Is

With spellbinding performance, shattering the dreams of thousands of Pakistani fans on Thursday night, a young cricketer turned engineer, Saurabh Netravalkar etched his name in the history of the cricketing world. It’s been a quite journey for the young lad from Malad to San Francisco, from a fair amount of domestic to international cricket. However, the biggest moment of his career came when he guided the US cricket team to a symbolic victory in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

The match against Pakistan offered the US an iconic win against the Men in Green in their very first meeting in the T20I series. The US is now brimming with confidence having the stalwart player on their side as well as the top table position which they achieved after defeating both Canada and Pakistan.

As the US opted to field first, Netravalkar finished with an amazing figure of 4-0-18-2. His job wasn’t done yet, Netravalkar was given an opportunity in the Super Over. With the USA needing to defend 18 runs, the cricketer did not give the Pakistan batters much to work with.

Saurabh Netravalkar is a left-arm pacer born in Mumbai. However, he began his cricketing career with great promises, representing the country in the U-19 World Cup in 2010 alongside KL Rahul, Jaydev Unakdat and Mayank Agarwal. After realising the harsh reality of intense competition in the cricket-obsessed nation, he decided to take on a less traveled road. With his engineering degree, he embarked on his journey to the US.

This led to the beginning of a new dual life – both as a professional cricketer and a software engineer. In 2019, Netravalkar made his international debut for the USA. Being a quirky left-arm pacer, he possessed the ability to extract disconcerting bounce and movement that would leave the batters baffled and their stumps scattered.

The US cricketer is an opening bowler and was also seen in the latter stages of limit-overs cricket. As Netravalkar sailed US to victory, his LinkedIn profile too went viral on social media.

His account revealed that apart from playing cricket, Netravalkar is a full-time employee at Oracle. As per the profile, he is currently working as a Principal Member of Technical staff in the company, however, his passion remains for cricket.
