Silence Was Grief': RCB Breaks Digital Absence Since Bengaluru Stampede
Bengaluru, Karnataka: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday ended an 84-day social media silence since the tragic stampede during their IPL 2025 victory parade on June 4 at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The tragedy, which claimed at least 11 lives, sparked a row over alleged poor crowd management by the organisers, and the government recently approved initiating criminal cases against RCB and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
However, in an emotional letter to the fans, the cricket team said its silence for the past three months was ‘not absence, but it was grief.’ The franchise noted that the space was once filled with energy, memories and moments that the fans enjoyed the most, but the June 4th changed everything, adding that it broke their heart, and that the silence since then has been their way of holding space.

“In that silence, we’ve been grieving. Listening. Learning. “And slowly, we’ve begun to build something more than just a response,” it said, highlighting that it was that the RCB Cares came to life. It grew out of a need to honor, to heal and to stand beside their fans, the team underlined.
“A platform for meaningful action shaped by our community and fans. We return to this space today, not with celebration but with care,” RCB wrote, vowing to continue, walk forward and stand with fans being the pride of Karnataka. “RCB Cares, And We Always Will,” the franchise wrote on X.

The team’s initiative RCB Cares fund was launched by offering Rs 10 lakh per victim’s family and support to the injured during the catastrophic stampede incident.
Notably, in July, the Karnataka government had approved initiating criminal cases against the RCB and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for the June 4 victory parade stampede after it accepted the final report submitted by the Justice Michael D’Cunha Commission in connection with the tragedy.
