“ I can promise you one thing… I will do my best to win and I will fight as long as I can!” wrote Hamori on X.

The 23-year-old had previously fought at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and won silver at the 2022 European Championships.

The Paris Olympics was engulfed with controversy after Algerian boxer Imane Khelif caused Italy’s Angela Carini to quit just 46 seconds into their preliminary match on Thursday.

Khelif has been accused of participating in women’s boxing with high levels of testosterone. She grabbed the spotlight due to controversy over her participation in women’s sports, despite allegations of being ‘biologically male’.

Iman Khelif was disqualified from participating in last year’s World Boxing Championships following her failure to clear the gender eligibility test conducted by the International Boxing Association.

Meanwhile, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has strongly defended Algerian boxers against the aggressive campaigns.

During a press conference, Mark Adams, the official spokesperson said, “The Algerian boxer was born female, registered as female, lived her life as a female, and boxed as a female. She even has a female passport. This is not a transgender case.”
