Imane Khelif who won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, finally broke her silence over the unconfirmed medical report about the controversial boxer that was released ahead of the US election. During the Olympics, Imane Khelif had faced allegations that she was a “biological male” and the claim later resurfaced on social media following an unverified report published by a French journalist.
Khelif said that she would sue the journalist for publishing the ‘false report’ and even spoke about world leaders commenting on the controversy.

It was during her appearance on Massimo Giletti’s Lo Stato delle Cose show on Italian television, the Algerian boxer opened up about the controversy.
“I didn’t know the statements of President Meloni, but I saw that many politicians and presidents speak without any real source,” Khelif said referring to President Giorgia Meloni’s comment.
When Khelif clinched gold in the women’s welterweight competition in Paris, her attendance sparked controversy. Many of the celebrities including famous political figures Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk target her gender.
“We will meet with the French journalist in court,” she continued.
“My parents have seen many fake images,” she added.
“The war against me through social media has had a negative impact. We need to understand who the people are who have done these things. Those who have done it are not people of substance.”
Earlier this month, a report in the French magazine Le Correspondent claimed that the Algerian boxer has XY chromosomes and “male characteristics”. However, the article about the 25-year-old has not yet been verified as authentic.

“Any person who is exposed to this bullying and hatred, finds it more difficult to win. But I have learned a lot from this experience. The more a person desires success, the easier it is to achieve it,” she concluded.
Moreover, the International Olympic Committee said that Khelif is taking legal action over media reports about leaked medical records.
