WPL 2024: Vijay Mallya Wants RCB To Complete The Double In IPL

Former RCB men”s team co-owner Vijay Mallya congratulated the RCB women”s team for their triumph in the WPL 2024 on Sunday. He, however, wants the RCB men”s team to complete the double which is long overdue in the IPL. Notably, the men”s franchise has not won a title in 16 editions of the IPL.

“Heartiest congratulations to the RCB Women’s Team for winning the WPL. It would be a fantastic double if the RCB Men’s Team won the IPL which is long overdue. Good Luck,” Mallya said on X, formerly Twitter.

After winning the final, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana said: “I”m not the only one who won the trophy, the team has won the trophy. I”m not the person to talk about what I feel. This is in top five maybe. Obviously a World Cup would top it. Have a message for the fans – the most loyal fanbase. One statement that always comes up is Ee Sala Cup Namde. Now it”s Ee Sala Cup Namdu.”

In the final, after being put into bowl, Shreyanka Patil (4/12) and Sophie Molineux (3/20) scalped seven wickets in unison to bundle out Delhi Capitals to 113 runs. In response, the top-three of RCB fired with all-rounder Ellyse Perry (35 not out) top-scoring to help the side sail over the line with three balls to spare.

RCB had a topsy-turvy route to the final. They started with two consecutive wins but lost their next two matches against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians respectively. The Bangalore franchise, then, clinched a win against UP Warriors before losing to Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians. However, in the eliminator, RCB defeated Mumbai Indians by five wickets to make it to their maiden final.
