Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere. The world is witnessing a surge in the use of AI technology in various industries. Adobe, the market leader in multimedia and creativity software products, has unveiled a generative AI music generation and editing tool that helps creators generate music from text prompts. The AI tool, named Project Music GenAI Control, also allows users to edit audio without jumping over to any other editing software.
The company said in its announcement that the latest experimental work from Adobe Research will change how people create and edit custom audio and music. Users can input descriptive text prompts, and the AI tool will generate music based on those prompts. The tool also permits users to customize the results within the same workflow.
“With a simple user interface, users could transform their generated audio based on a reference melody; adjust the tempo, structure, and repeating patterns of a piece of music,” said Adobe in its statement on February 28. Users can also adjust the audio’s intensity, extend the length of a clip, and re-mix a section. Adobe claims that Project Music GenAI Control will help users create “exactly the pieces they need.”
With this move, Adobe is all set to compete with other GenAI-powered music tools on the market. Adobe”s new AI tool was developed in collaboration with researchers at the University of California and Carnegie Mellon. Nicholas Bryan, Senior Research Scientist at Adobe Research, describes the AI tool as a kind of pixel-level control for music. “One of the exciting things about these new tools is that they aren’t just about generating audio—they’re taking it to the level of Photoshop by giving creatives the same kind of deep control to shape, tweak, and edit their audio,” added Nicholas Bryan. It is to be noted that Project Music GenAI Control is not yet available to the public, and the company has revealed the release date.
