Apple May Introduce AI-Powered Emojis App and Icon Customization In iOS 18

Apple is set to bring significant enhancements to the iPhone with the upcoming iOS 18 update. The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to launch the new operating system at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 event scheduled for June 10. According to a recent report, the new operating system might include AI-driven custom emojis that change based on user text inputs. Additionally, users could gain the ability to customise app icons by changing their colours to suit personal preferences.

In the latest Power On newsletter from Bloomberg, Mark Gurman reports that Apple is set to introduce a variety of new features with iOS18. Many of these updates are expected to utilize AI technology, while others will focus on adding more personalised options to the existing interface.

The report claims that the custom emoji is based on what the user is typing. For instance, if someone types “Holi” the AI will generate different emojis to that particular festival. Users can also select emojis and change them accordingly.

The report did not specify whether there will be any guidelines to prevent users from misusing the feature to create inappropriate or obscene emojis. However, it raises concerns about the potential for abuse of the new feature among users.

The global tech company, Apple has also may abandon the traditional grid layout for apps, which has been a staple since the first iPhone, and instead enable users to position app icons freely. Additionally, there are hints that users might gain the ability to change the colours of app icons.

The new update allows users to customize app icon colours could aid in categorizing similar apps, such as grouping all social media apps under one colour for easier identification. Moreover, the freedom to arrange icons anywhere on the screen will empower users to express their creativity and tailor their icon placements to suit their preferences. These anticipated features, along with potentially more surprises, may await iPhone users on June 10, when Apple is expected to reveal iOS 18 officially.
