The much-anticipated Apple iPhone 15 series hit the global market on September 22 and since then, Apple is receiving several user complaints regarding the overheating of iPhone 15 Pro series models. Users are saying that the devices are getting too hot to touch. However, Apple has acknowledged this major issue and is planning to fix this with a software update. Apple stated that there was a bug when updating iOS 17 on the device.
Several users took to social media to complain about the overheating issue. Some even shared pictures after measuring the temperature of the device with a thermometer. Earlier, there were speculations that this issue in both iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are due to its titanium body. But Apple denied this and stated that the heating issues are not due to its titanium frame. It is important to note that Apple has used this titanium frame for the first time in the devices instead of the stainless steel used on older smartphones. During the Wonderlust event, held on September 12, Apple CEO Tim Cook described the iPhone 15 Pro as the most “Pro iPhone”.
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhones to run warmer than expected,” Apple said. This includes a bug in iOS 17 and Apple also mentioned that the smartphone may feel warmer in initial days “after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity.” They also claimed that several third-party app updates may also cause this problem. Apple informed in a press statement that they will fix this issue soon and this overheating will not affect the phone”s long-term performance.
