Honor’s Bold New Flip Phone Design Spotted In Patent Filing, Promising Sharp Edges And Major Display

In an exciting development for smartphone enthusiasts, Honor is reportedly working on a new flip phone that promises to make waves in the market with its unique clamshell design. According to a patent filing recently approved by China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and first spotted by Gizmochina, the device features a striking angular design with sharp edges, diverging from the typical rounded aesthetics of most flip phones available today.

The patent, filed in 2022 and approved this month, reveals a clamshell flip phone design with sharp, geometric edges and a massive cover display. The front of the phone showcases a pill-shaped camera cutout positioned at the top-left corner.

The new Honor flip phone is rumoured to include a substantial cover display and a robust 4,500mAh dual-cell battery. These features position it to compete directly with upcoming models like the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Flip 6.

According to the report, At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, Honor CEO George Zhao confirmed that the company is indeed developing a flip-style smartphone, expected to launch later this year. However, it remains unclear if this is the same model as the one in the patent.

With the approval of the patent, speculation is rife about the final features and design elements of the upcoming device. Enthusiasts are particularly eager to see how the sharp-edged design will stand out in the crowded flip phone market.

This development marks Honor’s potential entry into the clamshell flip phone segment, expanding their foldable phone lineup beyond the existing Honor Magic V series. As the smartphone market continues to innovate, Honor’s bold design choices could set new standards and trends in mobile technology with the release of the new flip phone this year.
