The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in just a few months, and leaks have already revealed details about what’s coming.

From upgraded cameras to bigger screens, here’s a full breakdown of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max based on all the information that’s surfaced so far.

Apple hasn’t officially announced the date yet, but if history repeats itself, the iPhone 17 series will likely be revealed in early September 2025. Apple usually holds its big iPhone events in the first or second week of September.

One of the biggest upgrades expected this year is in the camera department. The iPhone 17 is rumoured to feature a 24-megapixel front camera, a major jump from the current 12MP sensor, which means sharper selfies and better video quality.

The back camera will likely stick with the 48MP main sensor, but unlike the Pro models, it probably won’t include Apple’s advanced 5x telephoto zoom. That feature is expected to remain exclusive to the higher-end models.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is shaping up to be a photography powerhouse. It’s rumoured to come with three 48MP rear cameras — a wide, ultra-wide, and a Tetraprism telephoto lens.

If true, this would be the first time an iPhone has a triple 48MP camera setup. There’s also talk of 8K video recording support, which would be another first for Apple’s smartphones.

Battery life is another area that may see some improvement. While Apple hasn’t revealed exact battery capacities, the increase in screen size could mean a larger battery in the iPhone 17 compared to the 3,582mAh unit in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Additionally, Apple might finally bring 35W fast charging to the iPhone 17 series — a step forward, even if it’s still behind some Android rivals in terms of charging speed.

Display upgrades are also expected across the board. The standard iPhone 17 is rumored to feature a larger 6.3-inch screen (up from 6.1 inches) and could finally get ProMotion technology — a 120Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling, gaming, and video playback smoother.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to retain its massive 6.9-inch display and could come with a new anti-reflective coating to improve visibility in bright sunlight.

When it comes to design, Apple seems to be making a few changes while keeping things familiar. The iPhone 17 will likely look similar to the iPhone 16, complete with the USB-C port and Action button.

However, the Pro Max model might get a fresh new look, with a rectangular camera bar on the back that spans the width of the phone, offering a cleaner and more modern aesthetic with softer edges, as per the leaks.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will likely be powered by Apple’s next-gen A19 Pro chip, while the standard iPhone 17 could run on the A19 chip.

The Pro Max may also come with 12GB of RAM for better multitasking, while the regular model could offer 8GB of RAM. Another interesting leak suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro Max might include a new cooling system featuring vapour chamber technology and graphite sheets, which would help manage heat during intensive tasks like gaming or video rendering.

All models in the iPhone 17 series are expected to come with at least an IP69 rating, meaning they’ll be more resistant to dust and water than ever before.
