OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, along with his brother and mother have denied allegations of sexual abuse made by his sister, Ann Altman.

In a statement on Wednesday, the family called the claims “utterly untrue” and expressed concern about Ann’s well-being. Taking to the X platform Sam Altman wrote: “My sister has filed a lawsuit against me. Here is a statement from my mom, brothers, and me.”

According to a lawsuit filed by Ann, Sam allegedly sexually abused her between 1997 and 2006 for 9 years. However, Sam, his brother and his mother have all denied these allegations, stating that they have tried to help Ann with her mental health challenges over the years.

“Our family loves Annie and is very concerned about her well-being,” the statement reads. “Caring for a family member who faces mental health challenges is incredibly difficult.”

“The family claims that they have tried to support Ann in various ways, including paying her bills, covering her rent, and helping her find employment opportunities.”

Despite their efforts, the family states that Ann has continued to make “deeply hurtful and entirely untrue claims” about them.

The statement also mentions that Ann has accused family members of withholding their father’s 401k funds, hacking her wifi, and “shadowbanning” her from various websites.

The statement reads, “This situation causes immense pain to our entire family. It is especially gut-wrenching when she refuses conventional treatment and lashes out at family members who are genuinely trying to help.”
