WhatsApp To Introduce QR Code Scanning To Join Channels

WhatsApp will soon let you scan QR codes to join channels.

Popular messaging app WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to scan QR codes to join channels.

This feature is currently being tested and is available for users who have the latest WhatsApp beta version on their Android or iOS devices.

The new feature will make it easier for users to find and follow new channels. To join a channel, users will simply need to scan a QR code using their phone’s camera. This will redirect them to the channel where they can view and join if they’re interested.

To access the QR code for a channel, users will need to navigate to the channel, tap on the vertical dot button and head to the share menu. From there, they can generate and display the QR code which can be shared with others.

This new method is more convenient than traditional methods of sharing a channel which involves copying and pasting a link.

It’s especially useful when the person you want to join the channel is in front of you. Business owners can also benefit from this feature by printing the QR code on business cards, posters and flyers.

WhatsApp has been rolling out several new features in recent weeks, including the ability to transcribe voice messages.

The company has also been testing another feature that allows users to add custom messages when forwarding text, images or links. However, it’s unclear when the QR code scanning feature will be available on the stable channel.

Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out a super useful feature on Thursday that will save you time and effort. It is called “Message Drafts”

Now, you will be able to easily find and finish those incomplete messages that you started but never sent. This new feature is available for all users globally on both iOS and Android devices.

Whenever you start typing a message but don’t send it, a green-highlighted Draft indicator will appear next to the conversation on your main chat screen. Also, your unfinished drafts will be bumped to the top of your chat list, so you can quickly pick up where you left off.
