WhatsApp Set To Launch

WhatsApp Is set To Launch A New Feature That Lets You Search An Image Is Fake Or Not.

WhatsApp is set to introduce a new feature to help users verify the authenticity of images as announced on Tuesday called “Search on Web.” This feature uses “Google Lens” to perform reverse image searches. This is mainly to curb disinformation and the spreading of phoney online.

WhatsApp has taken great measures to combat issues like this before, yet the incessant rise of fake images and AI-generated pictures has prompted the platform to consider more effective solutions.

Once it is fully rolled out to the users, you can use this feature by following these simple steps:

  • Open WhatsApp and select the image you want to verify.
  • Tap the three-dot button on the top right.
  • Choose “Search on Web” from the menu.
  • This will trigger a Google search to check if the image is real or fake.

WhatsApp has been plagued by a lot of misinformation lately. The company said that this feature aims to combat this issue by making it easy to verify images without leaving the app. This will allow users to quickly check image authenticity and there is no need to open a browser or upload images to Google Lens.

The “Search on Web” feature is currently available in WhatsApp’s beta version for Android. However, it will be rolled out to all users soon, according to WhatsApp. With this “Search on Web,” WhatsApp users can now make informed decisions about the images they share and receive.

Earlier this week, WhatsApp introduced other features, including contact storage within the app and Mentions in Status which is similar to Instagram Stories.

Considering the safety, WhatsApp introduced a feature in September that allows users to get information about a chat group. If users are added to a new group, they can decide whether to leave or stay in the group looking at the information the platform shows, including the data ‘who created the group, who added you, when it was created and the descriptions.’
