WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for its users recently. The newly added update on the meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp now allows its users to retrieve the messages that are accidentally deleted using the ‘Delete for me’ button.

The newly added feature now allows the users to undo their actions. The feature can be used within five seconds to undo. This will help the users to retrieve the messages which were accidentally deleted

How to use this feature:

  • Open the conversation from which you want to delete a WhatsApp message. Tap and hold the message to delete.
  • If the message is accidentally deleted by tapping on the ‘Delete for me’ option, from the small banner at the bottom, click on the Undo button.
  • Now you can select the message and choose the ‘Delete for everyone’ option.

The ‘Delete for me’ option removes messages from the user’s WhatsApp inbox without interfering with the other party’s chats. However, the recipients will be able to see their messages on the chat screen.

WhatsApp announced the latest add-on through a text message to the users. The message sent along with the video illustrating the new option, read:  “Undo “Delete for me”, Ever meant to delete a message for everyone, but deleted it just for you? Well, now you can undo it. Yep, deleting never felt so good”.

Last year, the instant messaging app introduced the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes after sending the text. In a separate development, it was reported that WhatsApp is rolling out a new chat lock and status update feature to beta users on Android.
