PM Modi also responded to Srinivas’ post, acknowledging their discussion on AI and its evolution. But who is Arvind Srinivas, and what makes him a notable figure in the tech industry?

As the CEO of Perplexity AI, Srinivas has been at the forefront of developing AI technologies. His company’s product, Perplexity Pro has gained monumental attention for its capabilities in the AI world.

Born and raised in India, Srinivas pursued his passion for computer science and earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.

His research focus on AI and ML has led to significant contributions in solving complex business challenges. Srinivas’s work has been recognised at conferences and industry events, solidifying his reputation as a leading expert in the field.

During his internships at OpenAI, DeepMind, and Google from 2018 to 2021, he worked on developing deep learning models for vision and making transformers more universal for computation.

These experiences not only deepened his understanding of AI and ML but also instilled in him the desire to build a product that provides fast, accurate and truthful answers to users’ questions.

In 2021, Srinivas worked as a research scientist at OpenAI before co-founding Perplexity AI in 2022. As the CEO of Perplexity AI, Srinivas is working towards building a trusted information service that uses advanced AI technologies to provide direct answers to user queries.

An interesting anecdote from Srinivas’s life reveals that he credits Google CEO Sundar Pichai for introducing him to eggs after he moved to the United States.

Srinivas went on to secure an internship with renowned Canadian computer scientist and Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio, who subsequently recommended him for a Ph.D. in Computer Science.

He is also a proud alumnus of IIT-Madras and has taken the entrepreneurial route, co-founding Perplexity AI. Srinivas, who holds a dual degree in electrical engineering from IIT-Madras.

Perplexity AI, founded in 2022 by Srinivas and his team, including Denis Yarats, Andy Konwinski and Johnny Ho has already made a major impact in the AI abode.

The company’s innovative approach to AI has attracted the attention of big investors, including US chip maker Nvidia and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
