Perplexity AI Rolls Out Comet Browser & Email Assistant In India: Here's How To Use

Perplexity AI has officially launched its AI-powered Comet browser and Email Assistant for users in India on September 22, strengthening its push to make online work smarter and faster.

Available for Pro subscribers, Comet is not just another web browser. Unlike Chrome or Edge, it replaces the traditional tabbed view with a streamlined workspace, designed to keep research, browsing, and productivity tools in one place.

The highlight is the Comet Assistant, which can automatically manage tabs, summarise long pages, review calendar events, and even navigate websites for the user. It also provides AI-driven recommendations by tracking what the user is reading or searching for, making online workflows more efficient.

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, shared on X that the browser is powered by Perplexity’s AI search engine and is designed to simplify online tasks, research, and work by making them more efficient.

Currently, Comet can be downloaded on Mac and Windows, while Android users can pre-order the app on Google Play. The iOS rollout has not yet been announced.

Perplexity has also introduced its Email Assistant, aimed at reducing the time professionals spend in their inbox. Available exclusively to Max plan subscribers ($200/month), the tool works with Gmail and Outlook and can:

  • Prioritise and sort emails

  • Compose natural, personalised responses

  • Schedule meetings directly from the inbox

Importantly, Perplexity assures that the assistant does not use private emails for training. Instead, it adapts to the user’s tone and writing style, maintaining both privacy and authenticity.

The company has emphasised that user data remains confidential, with no email content stored or reused for training. Both Comet and Email Assistant will receive regular updates, with plans to extend compatibility and add new AI-powered features in the coming months.
