Toronto, 17 February 2025: A Delta Airlines flight crash-landed and then overturned at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, on the snow-covered runway.

Emergency responders evacuated all 80 passengers and crew from Flight 4819, which had originated in Minneapolis. Peel Regional Paramedic Services confirmed that 15 people, including a child, were taken to hospital. Three suffered critical injuries—a child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s—while the remaining 12 sustained minor injuries.

Authorities have yet to determine what caused the aircraft to overturn and catch fire, though strong winds and heavy snowfall were reported in the region. Winds reached 40 mph on the ground and were even stronger at higher altitudes.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has launched an investigation, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration. Toronto Pearson Airport remains closed until at least 4:30 p.m.

The crash adds to growing concerns over flight safety amid harsh winter conditions.
