New Delhi: Ahead of Delhi elections, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced a new scheme for Delhi women focusing monthly financial assistance. As per Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna, former chief minister said that womenfolk will receive a monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000 and promised to increase the amount to Rs. 2,100 if party returns to power.

However, he stated that since election dates are likely to be announced soon, the initial amount could be credited in beneficiaries accounts only after the polls. The Assembly elections in Delhi are likely to take place in February next year and AAP is hoping for a third consecutive term.
It was while speaking at a public event, with Chief Minister Atishi by his side, Kejriwal made the announcement. He said that Delhi cabinet has approved the scheme and eligible women begin their registration from Friday.
The scheme, at first, was announced in the 2024-25 budget and Rs. 2,000 crore has been set aside for this purpose.

“This scheme is for empowering women and addressing their financial needs. While the BJP calls it free ‘revdis,’ I see it as a step towards strengthening our society. The BJP asks from where the money will come, but I said we will give free electricity, and we did it,” Kejriwal said.
