New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, December accused the BJP of trying to remove a large number of voters from the electoral rolls ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.
Kejriwal held a press conference on Friday and stated that the BJP submitted requests with the Election Commission of India (ECI) to delete the names of thousands of voters in constituencies such as Shahdara, Janakpuri, and Laxmi Nagar.

“…BJP has given application to cut votes in their letterhead. They had already given applications to cut votes of 11,000 people, in the last 1-1.5 months and that process is underway. In applications, it is said that these 11,018 people have either shifted or passed away,” ANI quotes, as Kejriwal is saying.
Kejriwal then added that the names of these voters, many of whom are supporters of the AAP are being deleted, even though they still living there.
“The BJP has filed an application to delete the names of 11,018 voters in the Shahdara area, but when we cross-checked that application on 500 names, 75 per cent of people were still living there, but their names can be deleted from the electoral roll,” PTI quotes as Kejriwal is saying.
In the Shahdara constituency, AAP won the seat in the 2020 elections by around 5,000 votes, he added.
Further, Kejriwal claimed that the deletion of voters’ registrations could adversely affect the party’s prospects in the forthcoming election. He requested the ECI to upload all applications to its website by the evening to ensure transparency.
