Video: “India Shining Exception” Finance Minister Presents Union Budget

Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive budget today.

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the first Budget of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi – led NDA government today.  She presented her seventh consecutive budget and this is Modi government’s first full budget after returning to power for the third time. Sitharaman started her Budget speech at 11 AM.

Before entering into Budget presentation, the Finance Minister said that “India’s economic growth will be a shining exception.”

In her address to the parliament, Sitharaman said: “The global economy while performing better than expected is still in the grip of policy uncertainties; elevated asset prices, political uncertainty and shipping disruption continue to pose significant downside risks for growth and upside risks for inflation.”

In such context, India’s economic growth continues to remain as the “shining exception” and assure that it will remain so in the years ahead.

“We are determined all Indians regardless of religion and age achieve life goals and aspirations,” she added.

Ahead of the Budget 2024, Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2023–24 on Monday. The survey projected India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for the current financial year (FY 2024–25) in the range of 6.5–7%.

Sitharaman concluded the Budget Speech at 12. 30 PM. The Budget Session has been adjourned till July 24, 11 AM.
