Several homes of Mahadalit families were burnt down in Bihar’s Nawada district. Shots were also fired when many of the homes were destroyed. Though the police have said that 21 houses were set on fire, the Congress leaders placed the number to be at least 80.

The incident occurred in the Manjhi Tola settlement on Wednesday, reportedly over a land dispute. Police have said that ten suspects have been detained so far. Meanwhile, the Congress condemning the event has called it yet another instance of “jungle raj” under the NDA government in Bihar.
