As per the reports of Ministry of health in Gaza, around hundred Palestinians are being killed in one day and wounds hundreds of others. Meanwhile, Jody Ginsberg, the president of the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said that the rise in death toll of Palestinian journalists indicates that they are being targeted intentionally and hence should be held accountable and responsible for the gruesome act.
Several journalists despite “clearly carrying” press insignia and press equipment are being killed. “Journalists are civilians, and civilians should not be targeted in war,” she said.
So far, the CPJ has recorded the death of 68 journalists in the besieged enclave of Gaza, reports Al Jazeera.
US president Joe Biden has once again asked the Israel to take care to “minimise the civilian deaths” as the death toll in Gaza approaches 20,000. But Biden also emphasised what he called Israel’s burden in fighting Hamas, “a military enemy that says they have one goal… the elimination – using terror – of the entire state of Israel”. He also added that discussions are being made with Israel and Arab states for the formation of a Palestinian state “with Israel’s security guaranteed”.
Israel has said that they have taken control of the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza strip and claimed that the Hamas force in the area has been “dismantled”. Israel continues to raid hospitals in Gaza. Israel forces has raided the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza city overnight. As per the church who operated it said that they have destroyed a wall at its front entrance and detained most of its staffs.
The troop also seized the northern Gaza’s Al Awda hospital on Sunday after besieging it for 12 days, the Doctors Without Borders said on Tuesday. The troops stripped, bound and interrogated all male over 16, including six of the group’s staff, it said. All of them were sent back into the hospital, which the troop still holds with dozens of patients inside but no essential supplies.
Meanwhile, the UN Security Council members vote on a draft resolution to halt the fighting has been delayed and is now postponed to Wednesday. As per AP, this move was made to get the US to abstain or vote “yes” on the resolution after it vetoed an earlier ceasefire call.
