Forced by displacement, the People of Palestine has been living in congested tents for several months due to the ravaging Israeli aggression in the Gaza strip.

The tents and refugee camps have been mired by various diseases and epidemics, apart from the grievance due to the starvation and lack of nutrition.  According to a latest report by the Associated Press, dangerous skin diseases are speaking rapidly in Gaza strips, among the tent dwellers. Worried by the rashes and other symptoms on children’s backs, buttocks, thighs, and stomachs, parents are rushing to the dermatologist’s office at Nasser Hospital in central Gaza.

The report notes that the doctors say that the condition was caused by the overcrowded tent camps accommodating hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who flew from their homes amid the devastating war.

The lack of adequate sanitation and the summer heat are worsening the living condition of the miserable camps. As per the report, more than 103,000 cases of lice, rashes and scabies and 65,000 cases of skin rashes have been reported in the strip, making the doctor’s job difficult to deal with the overwhelming number of patients.

In addition to the skin conditions, the people of Gaza are suffering other health-related challenges, including acute respiratory infections. More than 1 million out of the total 2.3 million population of Gaza have reported acute respiratory infections since the war began, and many are suffering from acute diarrhea. According to the United Nations Development Program, approximately 100,000 cases of jaundice have also been reported from the strip.

The crowded tents are housing thousands of displaced without proper sanitization. The lack of essential amenities, including soap, shampoos, and other materials, makes the plight worse.

The dangerous skin disease, which is speaking among the tents dwellers follows a series of other menaces that hit hard the helpless people in the strip. Earlier this month, there were reports of thousands of cases of Scabies and chickenpox in the coastal Palestinian territory.
