Several visuals of the eruption of violence against the minority Alewite and Christians in Syria are circulating on social media, allegedly perpetuated by the current ruling regime under Ahmed al-Sharaa. Notably, the Western-backed HTS (a former faction of Al-Qaeda) took over Syria after the fall of the Baatist regime under Bashar al-Assad on December 8, 2024.

Another woman shared the ordeal of minority Alawite shia in Syria under the current regime.

Stanly Johny the editor at ‘The Hindu’ newspaper and author of the book ‘The Comrades & The Mullahs’ and ‘The ISIS Caliphate; & Original Sin’ also shared a post on X and questioned the European leaders for easing sanctions on Syria amid the killing of 600 Alawites in the last couples of days in Latakia.
