"Feels Like Deja Vu", Israel Orders Evacuation Of Gaza Hospitals

Even after one year of its genocide in Gaza, Israel is still continuing its assault on Gaza Strip. Lines of ceasefire and hostages return seem non-existent. The Israeli Occupation Force (IOF) continue to order the Palestinians from place to place.

In the recent development, the IOF asked patients from Kamal Adwan, Indonesian and al-Awda hospitals to evacuate. The patients include newborns to extremely wounded patients from Israeli bombing campaign.

Palestinian Civil Defence warned that Israel’s ongoing siege in the area was creating an increasingly dangerous humanitarian situation.

Director of the Kamal Adwan hospital, Dr Hussam Abu Safia, declined to evacuate. He said the “situation is disastrous”. He also added that the hospital intends to remain open, despite the threats and warnings.

“They told us formally and they are threatening us that we need to leave the hospital. We need to evacuate and render the hospital out of service…We have also to evacuate all the employees from the different departments within the hospital, so that the hospital will be completely out of service. There will be no patients. No medical staff. Otherwise, the occupation will do exactly what they did with al-Shifa Hospital”, Abu Safiya told Al Jazeera.

He said they cannot evacuate the hospital as it have babies and newborns that are in the ICU.

“Even if we can evacuate a few patients, we cannot leave the hospital because there is no other hospital that is providing services and treatment to children, except Kamal Adwan Hospital”, he added.

He also said that they will continue to provide service, as they are doing a humanitarian service and not any violation of humanitarian law.

Human Rights group in Gaza said the orders for medical staff and patients, including sick children, to leave Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza feel like “déjà vu”.

“If this feels like deja vu, it’s because we all know the horrors that follow such orders…One year into this genocide, the total inaction of the international community is enabling Israel to unleash a renewed wave of genocidal violence against northern Gaza”, the advocacy group wrote on social media.

IOF also killed dozens of Palestinians in last 24 hours. Eight Palestinians were killed in the attack on Nuseirat and Bureij refugee camp, and nine members of a family were killed from Shujayea neighbourhood.

Israel also bombed Syria’s Damascus. At least seven were killed, and 11 wounded in the attack, as per state media. In its new attack on Lebanon, Israel killed 36 people, and wounded 150 others.
