Israeli military shared a post indicating that Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah is killed in Beirut bombing. The post shared by the Israeli Defence Force read Nasrallah “will no longer be able to terrorize the world”.

Earlier there were claims about Nasrallah being killed, only for the Iran-aligned Lebanese militant group to deny it. Hezbollah has confirmed that its leader, Nasrallah, was safe following Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Reportedly, the strike that killed Nasrallah, also killed Ali Karki, the Commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front. The bombing was carried out by Israeli Air Force (IAF), after having “precise intelligence”, said media reports.

Rumours circulated on social media suggesting that Nasrallah was targeted during the large-scale Israeli assault on the Dahiya neighbourhood, but Hezbollah security sources reassured that he remains unharmed in a secure location, reported multiple media outlets including Iran’s Press TV and Reuters.

Nasrallah was rumoured to have been killed in 2006 following Israel’s invasion of Lebanon. However, the Shia leader re-emerged days later unhurt. No official confirmation from Hezbollah was made on the recent claims of the 64-year-old leader’s death.

Israeli media Channel 12 earlier reported that Nasrallah’s daughter, Zainab Nasrallah, was also killed during the massive Israeli airstrike in Beirut. However, no official confirmation on the matter was made.

The Israeli airstrike was intense and lasted nearly five hours. The bombing campaign flattened apartments and wiped out many localities. Visuals believed to be from the region showed fires smouldering in several areas and heavy smoke billowing from neighbourhoods.
