IIM Ahmedabad Signs MoU With UAE To Launch Dubai Campus

During Sheikh Hamdan’s visit to India, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mumbai for the establishment of the IIMA Dubai Campus. The MoU was exchanged by Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA, and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.

As the first programme, the IIMA Dubai Campus will offer a full-time one-year MBA for working professionals and entrepreneurs. As for the admission, they will have to follow a two-stage process based on the standardized GMAT/GRE score which was taken within the last five years.

The duration of the course will be five terms and the programme seeks to provide academics and international exposure. The first batch is slated to begin in September 2025. As of now, the IIMA campus will be established in two phases. For the first phase, the UAE government will provide space in Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), while in the second phase, the IIMA will be given land where the permanent campus will be set up and be operational from 2029.

Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA, highlighting the significance of the milestone, said, “Our objective is to provide high-quality management education to aspiring leaders in the Middle East and surrounding regions. I am confident that this synergy will set new benchmarks for academic and research collaboration in Asia and the Middle East.”

“Dubai offers unparalleled opportunities to engage with industry leaders, multinational corporations, and high-growth startups. Our presence in Dubai will also strengthen offerings in India, and together, these two campuses will help us become a leader in management. We have successfully grown our full-time one-year MBA programme for the last 20 years, and it will be the first programme that we will offer in the Dubai Campus,” he further added.
