73 Dead In Two Blasts At Qassem Soleimani’s Grave During His Death Anniversary Event

Two back-to-back blasts occurred near the grave of the former Iran”s top general Qassem Soleimani whom the US had killed in a drone attack in 2020. The explosion happened during the anniversary event of the death of Soleimani. The twin explosions killed over 100 people and wounded many others. There death toll have been soaring and the rescue team has rushed to the spot

“The blasts were caused by terrorist attacks,” state media quoted a local official in the Kerman province as saying.

The cemetery in the southeastern city of Kerman where the blasts took place, was crowded with hundreds of Iranians who reached the spot to mark the anniversary of the former army general Soleimani’s death.

Soleimani led Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC’s) Quds Force from 1998 to 2020 and had earned a good status by playing an important role in spreading Iranian influence in the Middle East before being killed.

Reacting to the incident, Iran’s interior minister and an IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi said: “The enemy is launching psychological operations,” and urged Iranians not to spread speculations and rumours.
