Iran's Operation Basharat al-Fath Against US Bases: Key Updates
Iran’s state TV IRIB confirms Operation Basharat al-Fath against US bases has started in response to the US attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it has launched a powerful missile strike on Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is America’s largest military base in West Asia.
This retaliatory attack was conducted under Operation Basharat al-Fath, which had approval from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, led by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command.
IRGC said, the era of hit and run is over – any repeat attacks will accelerate the collapse of the US presence in West Asia. It also warned against future attacks that could lead to the downfall of both the US military infrastructure in the region and the Zionist regime.
Qatar condemned the Iranian attack on the US military base in Qatar. However, no incidents or casualties were reported from the attack. Qatar has said that it reserves its right to respond after an Iranian attack.
Reportedly, Iran gave advance notice to Qatar against the missile strikes to minimize casualties.
Iraq has closed its airspace amid the Iranian strikes on US bases. However, no reports of an Iranian drone or missile strike on US forces at Ain al-Asad Air base in western Iraq are reported.
This is not the first time Iran has given advance notice before attacking a US base. Reportedly, in 2020, it alerted the US ahead of missile strikes in Iraq after Soleimani’s killing, with no reports of US deaths.
