Israel Ground Offensive In Gaza: Thousands Forced To Flee Their Homes; 108 Dead

Israel has launched a ground offensive in Gaza City on Tuesday, targeting Hamas militants, which has prompted another wave of Palestinian displacements. Israel’s Defense Force has ordered a full evacuation of the Strip ahead of its northern offensive.

The long-anticipated ground offensive in Gaza has forced thousands to flee their homes. At least 108 people have been killed and others were wounded or reported missing since Tuesday, mostly in Gaza City. The heavy Israeli airstrikes and military operations across the Gaza Strip were described as a bloody night.

The assault drew widespread condemnation, with the UN Chief calling Israel’s offensive a ‘systematic destruction of Gaza City’, while the UK and Germany called for an immediate ceasefire.

As per the recent reports, among the victims, 93 were killed in the north of the strip, nine in the central area, and six in the south.

In north-west Gaza city, a deadly attack was carried out by the Israeli army by bombing adjacent houses belonging to the Zaqout, Hamad, and Ashour families near Al-Amn Al-Aam junction. The killed people, including women and children alike, along with more than 40 injured people, and dozens remaining missing under the rubble.

Meanwhile Israel has announced to open new route for residents to flee Gaza City via Salah al-Din Street, which will reportedly remained open for 48 hours only.

Israel has send its tanks and remote controlled armoured cars packed with explosives into its streets, in defiance of the international criticism and finding of a UN commision report. Israel’s foreign ministry has rejected the commission’s report as ‘distorted and false”.
