Pakistan Urges Israel's Suspension From United Nations

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for Israel’s membership of the United Nations to be suspended, while stressing the need to work for a 2-state solution. Sharif proposed Israel’s suspension from the UN while speaking at the Arab-Islamic Summit emergency meeting held in Doha on September 14 and 15, 2025.

The emergency meeting was called after Israel attacked Qatar to target Hamas leadership, amid the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal, which has been worked upon.

Sharif, while condemning the Israeli attack on Qatar, said, “The sister of Qatar has been subjected to an attack that is a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, and we strongly condemn the attack”.

Declaring Pakistan’s full solidarity with Qatar, PM Sharif said that the attack reflects Israeli ambitions for domination. “The world has continued to witness the massacre faced by the people of the Gaza Strip”, he said.

He concluded to show support for the establishment of an Arab-Islamic task force to take effective measures against Israel.

In the emergency meeting, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members pledged to ‘activate a joint defence mechanism’. However, nothing concrete came out of the emergency summit meeting.

Meanwhile, the GCC countries, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, have formed a defence pact to address the security concerns of the member states.
