Hamas Confirms Death Of Qasam's Spokesman Abu Obeida
Hamas’ armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, officially confirmed the death of its slain members, including the commander Muhammad Sinwar, Rafah brigade chief Muhammad Shabana, senior Qassam officer Hakem al-Issa, and the death of Hudhaifa Samir Abdallah al-Kahlot – better known as Abu Obeida -Qassam’s longtime spokesman.
In a video statement released on Monday, the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, confirmed the death of Abu-Obaida and appointed a new spokesperson.
In his first public speech, Kahlout’s successor paid tribute to Qassam’s slain second-in-command, Raad Saad, killed earlier this month.
The new spokesman announced that he is inheriting the title and will also be known as Abu Obeida to continue the journey.
First time Hamas has referred to Kahlout by his real name and showed his face in public. However, IDF had already revealed Kahlout’s name and image earlier.
The new spokesman, whose name is unknown, delivered his statement wearing a Keffiyeh over his face and military fatigues with a nametag that reads ‘military spokesman’.
Abu Obeida was a key Hamas voice in Gaza, releasing statements about the battlefield updates, ceasefire violations and Israeli captive-for-Palestine prisoner deals early this year during a short-lived ceasefire which unilaterally shattered.
His last statement was in early September as Israel started the initial stages of new military assault on Gaza city, declaring the area a combat zone as it destroyed hundreds of residential buildings and Palestine flee en masse.
