'Israel Had Nothing To Do With The Iranian President Helicopter Crash': Israeli Official Tells Reuters

Following the death of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister along with the Azeri officials, speculations behind the helicopter crash have been making rounds. The inadvertent atmospheric conditions have been cited as the reason behind the copter crash. However, there is another set of conspiracy theories that have been circulating considering the hardline Iran”s stand on the Palestine issue. Iran has taken a firm stand against destruction in Gaza since the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out. The Western leaders have been critical of the use of Iranian proxies, Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon against Israel.

As the news broke out, there are speculations that Israel has been allegedly involved in the helicopter crash carrying Iranian President and other dignitaries. However, an Israeli official has refuted the claim and denied its invovlment in the crash that killed Iran”s president. An Israeli official told news agency Reuters that the country had nothing to do with the copter crash that killed Iran”s President Ebrahim Raisi.

Iran”s supreme leader announced a 5 days of public mourning following the President Ebrahim Raisi death in the helicopter crash in northwestern Iran. The Iran”s Supreme leader described Raisi as a hard working cleric and remembered him as a warm-hearted, humbled and valued servant.

Ayatollah Ali Khameini approved the Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber to take over as interim president and to cooperate with heads of the Iranina parliamnet and judiciary to prepare for the elections within the next 50 days.

Ali Bagheri kani, deputy foreign minister has been appointed as the acting foreign minister of Iran following the death of Hossein Amirabdollahian.

A total of nine people were on board when the helicopter went down in northern Iran”s East Azerbaijan province. Hezbollah, the Iranian proxy group also experessed condolence by stating Raisi as a great brother.

EU has also expressed condolense and said on X, ” The EU expresses its sincere condolences for the death of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian, as well as other members of their delegation and crew in a helicopter accident. Our thoughts go to the families.”
