Washington, D.C., US: US President Donald Trump said Israel has agreed to the conditions he put forward to implement a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, which has been reeling under horrendous Israel assaults, leaving over 56,000 Palestinians dead since October 2023.
The President did not give any specifics regarding the conditions he mentioned for the around two-month Gaza truce. In a post on Truth Social, the US president said he will work with all parties to end the war, adding he hopes Hamas, the Palestinian group, accepts the deal.

“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope… that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” the President wrote on his social media.
Trump’s ceasefire announcement comes ahead of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scheduled for next week. The US president has indicated that he would be firm on pressuring Israel for a truce in Gaza, and claimed Netanyahu wanted to end hostilities in Gaza.
However, it is yet to be known how Hamas responds and if they agreed to the conditions outlined by President Trump.

Hamas has repeatedly called for a permanent ceasefire and complete withdrawal of the Israeli military from the war-ravaged territory. During negotiations in March, Hamas alleged the ceasefire proposal offers no guarantees to end the war in Gaza.
Notably, Israel, with the stated objective that its offensive can only end once Hamas has been completely destroyed, maintained that it has no intention of leaving the Strip until complete victory.
Last week, Trump said that he believed a ceasefire can be reached in Gaza within a week, indicating he had spoken to some of the people involved in trying to get a truce in the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza. The development comes following growing pressure on the Israeli military and political leadership amid the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, which many call genocide.
The horrific bombing campaign continues with further escalation in Gaza as around 100 Palestinians were killed, and several others injured on Monday when Israeli warplanes and artillery struck multiple locations across the Strip, including sites that shelter displaced families.
In the past week, the Israeli army has intensified airstrikes, including the horrific attack on the aid distribution sites. Last week, nearly 600 Palestinians were killed and 4,186 injured while waiting for food at aid distribution sites operated by the Israeli- and United States-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), according to the Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health.
Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza after Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack on Israel.
