French President Calls For Immediate Ceasefire In Gaza and A Two-State Solution

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke at the UN General Assembly and deplored the deep divisions among the world’s nations and the necessary multilateralism to rebuild trust and tackle crises. Macron while sharing an image with Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestine Authority on social media ‘X’ asked for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.

Acknowledging Israel’s legitimate right to protect its people and to deny Hamas the means to attack it again the French President said that its war in Gaza “has gone on too long and too many innocent people have died.”

Macron emphasised on the immediate ceasefire and the release of the hostages. He also said that massive amounts of humanitarian aid must arrive in Gaza.

The French President also underscored the role of the international community and its political will to ensure a two-state solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which is important to spill the immediate risk of regional escalation.

“We urge Israel to cease escalation in Lebanon, and for Hezbollah to cease missile launches towards Israel. We urge all those who provide (Hezbollah) with the means to do so to stop,” he said.
