Hundreds Of US Generals, Commanders, Officers Resign, Refusing To Obey President Trump: Report
Washington DC, United States: Hundreds of top US military officers, including generals, officers and commanders have reportedly resigned from the Department of Defense of the US administration amid ongoing conflict with Iran, unverified sources claim.
As per reports, a total of 25 top generals and 324 senior commanders have quit from their service due to the difference with the Trump administration’s policies. The resignations are attributed to their refusal to follow orders from President Trump.
On Friday, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth fired Army Chief of Staff Randy George from his post, announcing that George will be retiring from his position as the 41st chief of staff of the army effective immediately.
The US Army chief normally serves a four-year term, and George, a career military officer was nominated for the role in 2023 by former President Joe Biden, and was expected to serve one more year.
On Thursday, Hegseth dismissed two more senior Army generals – identified as as Maj Gen William Green Jr, the Army’s chief of chaplains, and Lt Gen David Hodne, who headed the Army’s Transformation and Training Command.
These personnel changes follow reports of disagreements over military policy, regarding the handling of conflicts with Iran, including a potential ground invasion, with some claiming the arrangement part of a purge.
