Liam Cunningham Pays Heartfelt Tribute To 'Fatima', A Palestinian Girl, Before Global Sumud Flotilla

Irish actor Liam Cunningham paid tribute to slain Palestinian child Fatima ahead of the departure of the Global Sumud Flotilla, the largest civilian mission to Gaza from Spain. While addressing the people before heading on his journey to Palestine, Liam played an audio clip of a little Palestinian girl singing a song.

Fatima, a 6-year-old girl, sang a song and asked to sing the same song at her funeral. Cunningham asked people what kind of world we are living in when small children ask to play songs at their own funeral. He mentioned his own grandchildren said how we can let this happen.

“It is a disgusting situation for a child asking for such a thing for their funeral”, he said. Fatima was killed 4 days ago, and somebody must be singing the song for her.

While calling the flotilla running to Palestine an indication of failure of the world’s humanitarian laws and international laws. It is a shameful period in the history of the Arab world, he said.

A member of the steering committee of the Sumud Global Freedom Flotilla stated that 30,000 people have joined their efforts to break the siege on Gaza. Activists, personalities and social movements from 44 countries leave for Gaza from Barcelona with the aim of opening a humanitarian corridor to the Strip and defying the naval blockade imposed by Israel.

The participants said they cannot remain silent in the face of the crimes committed by the genocidal state of Israel in Gaza. They added that they seek to end global complicity and work toward the independence of Palestine. “Today, we move to stop death and starvation in the Gaza Strip and to ignite a path toward justice and freedom.”

Notably, over 63,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Israeli genocidal attacks on Gaza with 70% of them are women and children.
