Lulu Group’s MA Yusuff Ali Meets Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

Lulu Group International Chairman, MA Yusuff Ali, recently met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, to discuss various matters, including the expansion of Lulu Group“s retail and food processing business, as well as increasing the export of food products from Malaysia. The meeting took place at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was on a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week and described the visit as fruitful. He stated that, through the visit, he successfully secured investment commitments amounting to RM40.6 billion (US$8.6 billion). He expressed hope that these deals would be realized, emphasizing that it now depends on the Malaysian government, its ministries, and agencies to transform these commitments into a reality that will benefit the country and its people.

Lulu Group chairman met Mr Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of his state visit.

“Happy to meet Dato’ Seri @anwaribrahim, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Malaysia & the accompanying delegation at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on 05.10.2023. During the meeting, we discussed how Lulu Group can expand more in the Retail & Food-processing sectors and increase the export of food products from Malaysia. We have also constituted a team to take this initiative forward,” Mr Yusuff Ali wrote on his social media handles.

LuLu Group International, an Indian Emirati-based multinational conglomerate company that operates a chain of hypermarkets and retail companies, is expected to launch its initial public offering or IPO in the first half of 2024, according to reports.

Lulu was founded in 2000 by Mr Ali, a native of Kerala, India. LuLu Group International mainly operates the international chain of hypermarkets named “Lulu Hypermarket”.

A major player in the economic scenario of the West Asia with an annual turnover of USD 8 billion and staff force of over 65,000, its worldwide operations cover business divisions in retail segment for the popular hypermarket brand, shopping mall destinations, food processing plants, wholesale distribution, hospitality properties, and real estate development.

Lulu Group has retail stores present in the UAE, India, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia and with its distribution companies located in India, US, Europe, West Asian countries, and the Philippines and, according to the Group, more trading offices expected to in Turkey and Vietnam.
