Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu is at the verge of ‘nervous breakdown’ due to his massive failure on national security says former Israel former prime minister Ehud Olmert during an interview with POLITICO.

Olmert also alleged that Netanyahu has miscalculated his move by taking over control of Gaza’s strip security for an ‘indefinite period’ once the war ends. He then added that Netanyahu is in a state of ‘nervous breakdown’ as he sought to avoid being thrown out of the office for failing to safeguard national security. Olmert went insisting that it is high-time to discuss the formation of a Palestinian state and to negotiate an endgame with international community rather than using military force on Gaza.

“Netanyahu has shrunk. He’s destroyed emotionally, that’s for sure. I mean, something terrible happened to him. Bibi has been working all his life on the false pretense that he is Mr. Security. He’s Mr. Bullshit,” he said. “Every minute he is prime minister he is a danger to Israel. I seriously mean it. I am certain the Americans understand he is in bad shape,” he said.

He then referred Netanyahu’s plan to takeover post-war Gaza sounded tantamount to going back to 2005, when Israel exercised military rule over the coastal enclave. He blamed Netanyahu for not having a proper realistic plan for the post-Hamas governance of Gaza which has now resulted in distancing the western allies.

Olmert suggested that a serious proposal of two-state negotiations will help to make an impact on international community and media. “It would show Israel is committed to doing something it hasn’t wanted to in the past 15 years.  It would show Israel is committed to doing something it hasn’t wanted to in the past 15 years.” he said.

Ehud Olmert served as the 12th Prime Minister of Israel from 2006 to 2009 from the liberal Kadima Party.

Olmert gave the interview to POLITICO just hours after Netanyahu’s declaration of taking over Gaza after the war in an interview with ABC News. US President Joe Biden said that he will not support an Israeli military “reoccupation” of the Gaza Strip, a White House spokesperson said.

Ever since the attack on October 7, Netanyahu’s approval rating has gone down. A mid-October poll showed that two-third of the Israelis wanted anyone else other than Netanyahu to be the next prime minister. In another survey, 44% blames Netanyahu for October 7 incident and only 18% wants him to continue in the office.
