In response to anticipated severe weather conditions, Qatar”s Council of Ministers General-Secretariat announced the adoption of remote work on Tuesday for all employees in ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions. Excluding military, security, and health sectors, as well as essential on-site personnel, this decision aims to ensure safety amidst exceptional weather forecasts.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education declared that all classes on Tuesday will transition to distance learning for government and private schools. This decision aligns with updates from the Meteorological Department warning of thunderstorms, prioritizing student safety while maintaining educational continuity.

The Department of Meteorology forecasts heavy thundery rain and dusty conditions inshore tonight until 6:00 am on Tuesday. Offshore, similar conditions are expected, with strong winds and high sea levels posing potential hazards. Wind speeds may reach up to 50 knots at places, impacting visibility and sea states.

“Weather inshore tonight until 6:00 am on Tuesday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with heavy thundery rain and dusty at places, with expected thundery rain associated with strong wind and poor horizontal visibility. Offshore, it will be dusty and cloudy with thundery rain, the report added, warning of expected thundery rain associated with strong wind and high sea and poor visibility. Wind inshore will be northeasterly to southeasterly 20 to 35 knot gusting to 50 knot at places with thundery rain. Offshore, it will be variable mainly southeasterly to northeasterly 06 to 16 knot increasing to 20 to 30 knot gusting to 50 knot at places with thundery. Visibility will be 03 to 07/01 kilometers or less at places at times. Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet, rises to 5 feet with thundery rain. Offshore will be 2 to 4 feet rises to 07 to 12/16 feet at places with thundery rain,” the Department of Meteorology, Qatar said.
