Turkey Parliament Removes Coca-Cola and Nestlé from Restaurants in Protest Against Their Pro-Israel Stance

The Turkish Parliament has removed Coca-Cola and Nestle products from its restaurant menus in protest against their alleged pro-Israel stance in the ongoing Israel-Palestine war, according to Reuters, quoting company sources.

“A decision has been made that products of companies that support Israel will not be sold in restaurants, cafeterias, and tea houses within the parliament campus,” a statement said.

The decision, taken by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, did not specifically mention the brands that were removed from the menus. However, according to parliamentary sources, Coca-Cola beverages and Nestle instant coffee were the only brands affected.

The move follows a public outcry demanding action against these companies. According to the sources, the Parliament Speaker”s office could not remain indifferent to public demand and hence made the decision. Social media has been filled with hashtags calling for a boycott of Israeli and Western company products ever since Israel launched an assault on Gaza.

The Turkish Parliament has also been critical of Israel and Western countries that support Israel in the ongoing war. Large rallies have been held on Turkish streets demanding action against Israel.

Israel launched a war on Gaza as a retaliatory action to a Hamas attack that killed thousands of Israeli citizens and held more than 200 citizens hostage.

Since Israel launched the war in Gaza, there have been more than 100,000 Palestinian casualties, of which a shocking 4,100 were children.
