The UAE government has approved a number of federal decrees and amendments that regulates the practice of healthcare professionals, on August 8, 2023.
As part of it, a national medical register has also been established. We have, “approved the laws on private health facilities and veterinary medicine”, said UAE Government through the official X account (formerly Twitter).
The new amendment has come as part of regulating or controlling the practice of several healthcare professionals including nursing, laboratories, medical physics, functional therapy, physiotherapy, aesthetics, anesthesia, audiology, and radiology, said the UAE Government.

It also increases the penalties for the healthcare workers who practice the profession without obtaining a license. The same is applicable for those who do not meet the Government prescribed requirements.
A number of medical ethics and professional conducts are also mentioned.
In addition, the disciplinary sanctions are updated. The updating is on the basis of the violations committed with the continuity of the operation of private health facilities.
The newly introduced National Medical Register will incorporate the details of licensed healthcare professionals practicing in UAE.
“No one is allowed to practice a health profession unless they are authorised by the health authority in accordance with the provisions of this federal decree and its regulations and decisions”, reported the Trade Arabia.
Veterinary facilities will also be upgraded, so that foreign entrepreneurs and businesses to invest in the veterinary sectors.
