2 Soldiers Killed After Chinese-Origin Type 59 Tank Explodes During Firing Exercise In Bangladesh
Dhaka, Bangladesh: At least two Bangladeshi military soldiers were killed after a Chinese-Origin Type 59 Tank exploded during a drill at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram in Bangladesh. The tank shell blasted during the firing exercise on September 9.
According to the official statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), two soldiers died and one sustained injuries. The injured officer was airlifted to a military hospital in Dhaka for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause, while online reactions offered condolences and noted the risks of such training with aging equipment. The exact cause of the accident remains unconfirmed. The ISPR said necessary steps are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
